Dr. Katie Wilkins joined the Blue Cross Animal Hospital team in August 2025. A graduate of Washington State University, she brings a passion for neurology and internal medicine, along with several years of experience treating dogs and cats at various Veterinary United locations in Macomb County, Michigan. She is currently focused on expanding her surgical skillset. When not caring for pets, Dr. Wilkins enjoys reading, kayaking, horseback riding, and spending time with her boyfriend and their seven pets—including four dogs (two with special needs) and three cats.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, kayaking, horseback riding, and spending time with her boyfriend and their four dogs and three cats.

Dr. Kari Smith earned her PharmD from the University of Michigan in 2006 and her DVM from Michigan State University in 2020. She is certified in acupuncture and has a special interest in holistic veterinary care. An avid equestrian, she competes in hunter/jumper events with her horses and shares her home with 11 dogs, 7 cats, and actively supports Cavalier rescue.
